John Daniel Clifford

Jack graduated from the Naval Academy with a degree in physics in 1972, and served in a variety of positions in the submarine community during a 20-year Navy career. Highlights of his career include serving five years as a Commanding Officer of a Navy Strategic Systems Program Management Office, overseeing design, procurement, and support and monitoring of major submarine navigation equipment for the ballistic missile submarine fleet. Additionally, he was in charge of crew training programs and facilities for the navigation teams of U.S. and British strategic submarines. He had previously served on the staff of the Joint Strategic Target Planning Staff, where he was responsible for the final weapons assignment for U.S. and NATO submarine forces, including promulgation of the nuclear execution plan to the submarines. Prior to his retirement from the Navy, Mr. Clifford was the Director of Strategic Weapons Systems Officer Training at the Navy's facility in Kings Bay, Georgia. His military schooling includes Nuclear Power School and Navy Prospective Nuclear Engineer School. He retired from the military in 1994. Prior to joining JHNA in 2005, he was a licensed financial advisor with American Express and Director of Operations for Zentox Corporation. While at JHNA, he has worked on operational concepts, requirements and architecture for the Future Combat Systems contractors, including Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, software design and system demonstration. He and his wife Maureen live in Poquoson, Virginia. They have two daughters, Kathleen and Megan.
