Careers at JHNA

JHNA is an S-Corporation with two employees. The majority of our workforce are 1099 Subcontractors and other individual S-Corporations. Here are the salient points:

Pay

  • JHNA offers a premium hourly wage for your service
  • Consultants are normally retained for periods of not less than six months
  • We offer contracts per project that identify subcontractor workload and expectations
  • The consultant's hourly wage will vary according to whether the consultant is working a project (average), supervising a captured project (more), or is conducting authorized Business Development (less)
  • There is a bonus structure and process affording the opportunity for semiannual bonuses

Work

  • For diversity, most subcontractors are encouraged work on multiple projects
  • Currently 10 individuals are working more than 1920 hours per year. This is the equivalent of 48 weeks a year with two weeks off and 10 national holidays
  • Most work is done in the consultant's home at the consultant's convenience. Client deadlines will surge effort
  • Travel is expected to the customer's site as often as the customer requires and within budget. Travel funding is identified within the contract with the customer and is not at the consultant's expense
  • We encourage multiple-day visits to the customer in order to maximize the value of travel dollars. The JHNA standard is depart home early Tuesday, and return home late Thursday
  • There are no corporate offices (and therefore no large overhead costs). Major consulting firms cannot compete with our pricing. Therefore, our services remain in high demand
  • Your job is not guaranteed beyond the initial offer. If you work hard, the client will retain your services, or we will find other work for you. Or you will find work for others

Benefits

  • Because most of our employees are retired military, JHNA offers no benefits. If you are not former military, or do not otherwise have access to benefits through your spouse, we will negotiate augmenting your hourly wage to contribute towards purchasing medical and dental coverage
  • We encourage family time. For many of us, our work schedules are built around facilitating family related activities such as coaching and scouts
  • The #1 benefit is that you are your own entity. You pick which projects you'd like to work and you have all the associated income tax benefits of forming our own company

We are always looking to meet talented people. We give preference to people with military experience. Most of our subcontractors have or are pursuing advanced degrees. We are an equal opportunity organization. If you think you'd like to join the team please send resumes to John Northrop. We'll get back to you.
