Client: General Dynamics Robotics Systems

Title: Autonomous Navigation System, Future Combat Systems

Summary: JHNA is developing CONOPS for various unmanned ground robotic platforms and manned ground vehicles incorporating the ANS, to include both a range of mission types including armed and unarmed mission profiles, and investigate various manned and unmanned ground vehicle configurations. The CONOPS serves as the top-level framework to relate key operational capabilities; system performance expectations, and operational architecture relationships between key entities for exchange of information, interoperability, integration and interface. JHNA will define the top-level system performance requirements necessary for an ANS to satisfy the CONOPS and the FCS Program concepts for MGV/UGV. Requirements consider vehicle size and weight, payload, general mobility characteristics and movement. In addition, JHNA is providing a definition of the performance capabilities of potential UGV configurations. The requirements definition considers the Ground Control Station (GCS) logistics, manning, and communications issues for the vehicle/system.

Deliverables: Tactical Vignettes describing various offensive and defensive concepts illustrating the proposed employment of the Autonomous Navigation System on various platforms. A requirements crosswalk assessment and a requirements compendium document with requirements listed in threshold and objective format Iterative discussions with GDRS engineers and briefings to key Army personnel.
